Weight Loss Programs

Everyday people look in the mirror and take a few moments to see how they look. Whether it is for trying on clothes, or just looking at their body, one can either like what they see or dislike what they see. The reasons may vary, but for some people an overweight body is a very stressful and hard to deal with situation. From 1995 to 2001 the number of obese Canadians aged 20 - 64 has grown by 24%. According to these figures obesity is on a massive rise within the general population of Canada. Things that have assisted with this drastic increase include: ever popular video game systems, computers, and all the things technology has to offer which make people less active.

This essay will outline 3 types of weight loss programs available today that are on top of the market and help determine which program is suitable for the average over weight person. The weight loss programs include, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and Tae Bo. The program that I believe that rises above all other weight loss programs is Tae Bo. Areas that will be looked at in depth are how restrictive the different programs are in terms of diet and exercise as well as the financial aspect. To begin with, body weight is controlled by the number of calories eaten and t

Work out with a buddy to make it fun

In conclusion to keep weight off one must make the necessary changes in physical activity as well as eating habits that can be followed for the rest of their life, it is very important that this maintained and not abandoned. A minimal amount of weight loss (10-20) pounds can greatly improve ones health and decrease their health risks. The weight loss program that would give the most success is Tae Bo. In order to lose the maximum amount of weight exercise is required as well as a nutritional diet which Tae Bo offers.

Incorporate daily exercise in lifestyle

The next weight loss program that I will take a look at is Weight Watchers. They have been around for a while and everything regarding meal planning, goal setting and daily schedules can all be done online. A great benefit it has is that it offers motivational group help online. This is something new and not very common with weight loss programs. There is a great emphasis on weight tracking and charts, which helps to monitor weight loss and how well the program is working. For starters the program is not too costly, at 15 dollars a month. Again this is cost goes all towards the food. The weight watchers program is based on a point system. All foods have what they call flex points. Depending on how much weight you intend to lose, the number of points you can accumulate during a day will vary. The diet is quite restrictive because the points allowed per day should not be exceeded. For the average person it will cost about 150 dollars for 15 weeks, which works out to about 10 dollars a week. This program is relatively cheap compared to others. The only problem is that it offers no physical activity or exercise to accompany the wonderful diets it has planned out. This program would be suitable for people that like to use the internet, because everything can be done online through their website.
