Atkins Diet = bad MLA Format
Thanks to a revolutionary new diet, soon every man and woman in America will reach their ideal weight. Your time could be tomorrow. You could wake up with inches off your waist, none of your clothes will fit, and you will have an astonishing 6% body fat. I’m sure that at this very moment you are thinking that everything I have just stated is completely absurd. Well, if you are, you are entirely right. No such diet has ever been invented and no genius doctor has made any new discoveries in the science of weight loss. The commercials are all around us. Fad diets have been commercialized and advertised for decades. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Slim Fast commercials have been aired during every television program that I can remember. However, I cannot remember any time in my life when fad diets were as surrounding as they are today. The commercials are getting more forceful and aggressive daily. There is a final stage of this ‘wonderful’ diet. This final stage lasts a lifetime. By this time, you have surely reached your weight goals and are on the right track to a disease-free life. This stage is called disease prevention. You achieve this through lifetime maintenance. You continue your diet, using everything that you have learned thus-far. You should have established good eating habits including, low carbohydrates and very high protein. Weight loss is the first nutritional principle of the Atkins Diet. Which brings me back to the point that the diet as a whole is a conspiracy. Lets take a closer look at Atkins himself. He was born in 1930 in Columbus, Ohio. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School. In 1960, he opened his own private practice in New York City, New York. In 1972, Dr Atkins published the first edition of Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution (“From Past to Present“ par 1). Weight maintenance is the second principle of The Atkins Diet Revolution. This is where you work to keep the weight you lost off by continuing on the diet while gently nudging a little carbohydrates into your diet. There are essentially four phases of The Atkins Diet Revolution. The induction, that lasts around 14 days, in which you lose weight quickly. On going weight loss, where you keep you weight off. Pre-Maintenance, where you begin to lay the concrete for disease prevention, and lifetime maintenance where in the end, you turn the diet into a lifestyle and stay disease free (“What is the Atkins Nutritional approach?” Pars. 4-8). local grocery store a few days ago. I was in a particular aisle, it doesn’t matter which, and noticed that every section in the aisle had the food item that I would normally purchase located directly to the left of an equal product with zero or lowered carbohydrates.
