            Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave" by Frederick Douglass.
             Many of us don't recognize the freedom we have today. Many of us don't realize, how hard our forefather fought, to gives us liberty today, but most of all, many of us don't appreciate the sovereignty we have today. To buy and sell a person, his soul, his life was a practice many southern were accustomed too. Slavery in America was as common as breathing. In south, it was normal for African American to be looked upon and treated as chattel. The situation was so horrible that people start believing, they were here to act as inferior to the white man. The black people suffered several ordeals of punishment. There only purpose in life was to labor from sunrise to sunset. Something had to be done. Someone had to go against the cruelty. Somebody had to speak up, and say we are your equals, we have our rights, and we are not your property. That someone was Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass was one of the foremost leaders of the abolitionist movement, which fought to end slavery. A brilliant speaker, Douglass was asked to engage in many tours to give lecture about anti-slavery.
