Themes was another important piece that effected the role of Jane. Love was an important theme throughtout the novel. Rochester thought that Jane had chosen St. John to become her husband. But she replied that " He is not my husband, nor ever will be. He does not love me;I do not love him. He loves a young beautiful lady called Rosamond."(ch.37 pg.425)After hearing the news, Rochester was suprised. Soon, Rochester asked Jane to marry him and Jane replied "yes, sir."(ch.37 pg.426). Rochester felt like the most happiest man in the world, he was delighted when he realized that Jane has excepted him to become his wife. They later have a baby boy. She realizes that she has started her own family and to start the new life with her family.

Settings also were an important aspect to Jane's characterization in the novel. In the beginning of the novel, Jane was in Lowood school. Jane felt comfortable there and her life was heading the right way, especially when she met Helen, who she considered her best friend. Unfortunately, Helen was seriously ill and passed away. Afterwards, she understood that it was time to move on and that she had to decide what to do with her life. She realized when she went to see the grave of Helen she saw the grave"covered by a grassy mound; but now a gray marble tablet marks the spot, inscribed with her name, and the word 'Resurgam". (ch.9 pg.75) She understood that this was a sign from Helen to tell Jane to move o
