world trade center

The sun rose Wednesday morning over the absence of a national landmark, a smoldering ruins within lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers had stood for over thirty years. Two transcontinental jets were hijacked while in flight to Los Angeles, California, and intentionally crashed into the two World Trade Center towers at around 9 a.m. EST. These planes were loaded with jet fuel that ignited a hellish blaze that sent temperatures at the point of impact soaring to an estimated 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Within in hour of impact with the two towers, each tower had collapsed to the ground leaving our country in total disbelief of how to comprehend what just happened on our soil to our fellow Americans.

Terrorism erodes a sense of security and safety at both the individual and community level. It can challenge the natural need of humans for the world to be predictable, orderly and controllable (Glanz). Studies have shown that deliberate violence creates longer lasting mental health effects than natural disasters or accidents. The consequences both for individuals and the community are prolonged, and survivors often feel that injustice has been done to them. This can lead to anger, frus

tration, helplessness, fear, and a desire for revenge. Studies have shown that acting on this anger and need for revenge can increase feelings of anger, guilt, and distress, rather than decreasing them. Nevertheless, President George W. Bush warned ??the United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts? (Kennedy).

Terrorism has occurred within our borders before, such as the Oklahoma Bombing in 1995 and the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. Numerous American citizens cannot truly believe that our government had no idea of the strategic attacks on our country. Kenneth Katzman, a terrorism expert questions the intelligence failure by saying; ??How nothing could have been picked up is beyond me-way beyond me,?There?s a major, major intelligence failure, especially since the previous Trade Center bombing produced such an investigation of the networks and so much monitoring.? Nevertheless CIA spokesman Mark Mansfield replied, ??the CIA has worked diligently and relentlessly to counter terrorism. Our resources are being devoted to determining who was responsible for these horrendous attacks, and it doesn?t serve any useful purpose to respond to such criticism.? Each of these experts are able to suggest the anger and resentment officials feel toward the inability to protect American citizens within our own borders.

While researching this article I came across a name that seems to surface if anything unexpected happens to planet earth. The name was Nostradamus. He is a famed philosopher from the 15th century, who wrote four-line verses, or a "quatrain," which would prophesize the world events far into the future, and ever since Nostradamus' time the work has been claimed by supporters to have "accurately" predicted wars, disasters and the rise and fall of dynasties. This is a quote from the verse ?quantrain,? ?Nostradamus' prediction on WW3: "In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror... The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city..." "In the city of york there will be a great collapse, 2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb third big war will begin when the big city is burning." (Nostradamus). He said this will be bigger than the previous two. Two thousand one is the first year of the new century and this is the ninth month. New York is located at the forty-first degree of Latitude. This is an interpretation of Nostradamus, because, he wrote in a gibberish fashion while compiling his notes and theories upon the upcoming world. This presented another point of view and made me wonder, was this an act that could not have been prevented? Was this an act of God? I know as wel
