The sun rose Wednesday morning over the absence of a national landmark, a smoldering ruins within lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers had stood for over thirty years. Two transcontinental jets were hijacked while in flight to Los Angeles, California, and intentionally crashed into the two World Trade Center towers at around 9 a.m. EST.
