SAME TIME, SAME NATION, SUCH DIFFERENCE: Our Nation is primarily composed of two types of people, those who live in the city and those who live in the country. Some of these people are off to work, some are off to school, and some are just out-and-about. The difference between these people is that some are the city crowd and the others are the country folk. All these people start the day with the same goals, however that is where their similarities end. The many different cultures, along with the multitude of jobs, variety of transportation and endless entertainments make the fast paced city crowd so much more different from the often diversely cultured, nature employed, commonly one truck owned, out-doors entertained easy going country folk. City living and country living are like night and day. Because of the high immigration rates in cities, such as Ottawa and Toronto, these places tend to be flowing with cultures. Meeting one?s neighbours can be a total education. You may have a Chinese, Lebanese, Islamic, African, or Polish neighbour. With so many different cultures, being bilingual is an advantage, but it is not even close enough to mak
monolingual or bilingual, generally, knowing only English and French. Every child at school grew
