Even thought "The Martian Chronicles" starts out a few years ago, if you were to look at when it was written you can see that it was written in future context. I believe this similarity is because they are both science-fiction novels. When I began to think about science-fiction novels, I realized that they are called that for a reason. For any book to be a science fiction novel, they must be a fictional, "what-if" question to be answered.
