The fundamentals of a play, such as the sets, lighting, make-up, and costuming, are some of the characteristics to which create the feeling for a dramatic play or musical. A play, basically, is a performance where a particular character or more, behaves or pretends in a particular way, esp. in order to produce a particular effect or result. Out of the three movies we watched in class, The King and I, Our Town, and Les Miserables, the different usages of each characteristic helps bring out the varieties in establishing a play. These factors of a play alleviate the ¡®necessities¡¯ in recreating what is needed for the audience. The setting itself is a very important feature in a play, for it is where the actors relive their roles in emphasizing every thought and action. The set basically states where the acting is taking place, and what kind of characters will be acting with the surrounding around them, which illustrates the personality trait they possess. In addition to the affects of the set to an actor or actress, it also reveals the character to a certain degree that actually helps the audience to get an enhanced perception.
