jurrasic park theory

In the book Jurassic Park (later turned into a movie) author Michael Crichton describes a formula to bring dinosaurs back to life after 65 million years of extinction. There are 6 steps to this Jurassic Park Theory. The first step is to find a piece of amber with a blood sucking insect from the dinosaur trapped in it. Amber is a fossilized tree sap. Usually it is clear with a yellowish tint. Sometimes insects are trapped in the tree sap before it hardens. Some amber dates from the Mesozoic Era when the dinosaurs lived and it is not impossible insects, carrying dinosaur blood, might be trapped in amber. Amber preserves the soft tissue of an animal for vast amounts of time. But this step costs considerable amount of time and money to find the right piece of amber.

Step two is to extract the blood that the insect sucked from the dinosaur. It is not unreasonable that we might be able to extract some dino DNA from the blood cells we recover. After that, though, we run into trouble. Scientists have already extracted DNA fragments from an extinct weevil that was trapped in amber for up to 135 million years. And there was only a fragment of DNA of the weevil and not the blood of something it bit.

The next two steps are where things ge

Geneticists for cloning have a different view. New advances in genetic engineering are on the cusp of brining extinct species back to life, but nobody explains how difficult, risky, and expensive this is, especially given the high percentage of failed attempts before a successful live birth is achieved. Some biologists estimate that one out of every 1000 attempts will result in a fully formed, live dinosaur hatching, and then there’s the challenge of preventing high rates of infant mortality. After considerable expense, it’s still unknown if the hybrid would be fertile or sterile and which dinosaur would be resurrected. Now is the time for scientists and society to acknowledge that it is unjustifiable to use new techniques and scientific advances to solve today’s problems but wrong to add new problems. Dinosaur cloning is an improper use of scientific technology that shows little regard for the animals being brought back into a world unprepared to receive them.

Before establishing a successful captive-breeding program of dinosaurs. Dinosaurs could be used to assimilate the young to appropriate food sources and to environmental aspects under controlled conditions. Cloning dinosaurs could help reverse the loss of biodiversity around the world, especially of large bodied mammals. Some of the cloned dinosaurs could help sew the holes punctured in the earth as a result of recent species extinction.

Ecologists against cloning feel dinosaurs were the dominant terrestrial beasts that existed in ecosystems too complex to reconstruct in today’s crowded world. No one has begun to address the ways in which dinosaurs themselves had in the past and would have in the future an impact on their environment and vice versa. We can’t even predict the changes that dinosaurs might induce in the habitats in which they are introduced. Evolution is very much like a series of reinforcing cycles, which once began are too complicated and powerful to stop.

Step five is to hatch the dinosaur in an incubator, and the last step is to raise the dinosaur to full size. If the eggs are good, and you get to this step they are probably going to get them to hatch because you have went through the hard part. This theory
