When I was I child I used to watch shows like Batman and Spiderman. Both the shows were very similar. They both were about super heroes that fought crime. The shows consisted of a lot of fighting. Batman and spider man were very intelligent and used clues to determine where the criminals might be and what their plans were. So these shows weren’t just about fighting and blowing things up. Sure there was violence when the hero fought the bad guys but these shows were also about Good and Evil. I watched mostly cartoons when I was young and they all had some kind of hero in them. I didn’t watch Barney or Sesame Street. I hated those shows even when I was a child.

I think that the shows that may cause violent tendencies in children are the ones that parents are told not to let them watch anyway. The programs that actually do have an excess amount of violence also have ratings and warnings that they might not be suitable for a young audience. These ratings are there for the parents. The ratings are there so that the parent knows if that program is suitable for a child.
