Life in India

When reading this essay on the life in India one could say that from the graphic and information that Mrs. Ruth Jhabvala gives the reader, he or she could easily grow a disliking to India by the end of the piece. To anyone, most would think that after living in social and outgoing place like England or from the Americas, to begin dwelling in a place like India would definitely seem dull and boring.
In Ruth's argument on whether India was a respectable and enjoyable place to live, most would have to agree, based on incidents in the news today, and with the evidence that she states in her essay. Although parts of what she says does seem extremely exaggerated from time to time. But seriously many people from the Americas and other countries other than India simply go there just as a visit, merely just to see the main attractions such as the Taj Mahol, and the other sights and scenery India has to offer tourists and on goers.
Even though Mrs. Jhabvala uses a good amount of exaggeration which in some cases people would argue that it is unnecessary. However it seems in this case with the point that she is trying to get across to the reader, it is right only because needs to grab the readers attention almost putting them at the edge of their seat. Only because in this essay it is hard to entertain the reader on such an uninteresting subject as this. It seems that Ruth however does use exaggeration in the correct places. An example would be when she talks about the people who she is "supposed" to be friends with and spending quality time with. She talks of these people as if to say they are nice people with peculiar interests and customs. For a person like Ruth coming from England, anyone can clearly see how she would not want to be accustomed with these individuals. She tells in her essay how they talk about tedious and dull subjects, act in weird ways by sitting on rugs and not to mention the attire she talks about.
