Tobacco Kills

Tobacco kills and the Government Doesn't Care

Joe Camel (cigarettes) seemed like he was a pretty cool guy. His cartoon like character was the image for the young teenage population. The Marlbro (cigarettes) cowboy seemed like he could do anything right, not to mention he could get any hot chick that he wanted. People in the ads for Kool cigarettes seemed like they were relaxed and had all the money in the world. Skoal chewing tobacco say "Always there in a pinch." This advertisement made it seem like if someone can't smoke because of sports then someone might as well chew. What might I be talking about? These are just some of the advertisements that make these tobacco products seem like they look irresistible. Usually no matter what magazine someone looks at today, there is always an advertisement for a tobacco product. Tobacco is a product that kills many Americans every year. In fact tobacco is the leading cause of death in America (www.tmvoice.com). With every year that goes by thousands of teenagers are brainwashed into using a tobacco product. Tobacco could be considered almost as bad as the illegal drugs in America, because they both get people addicted and killed. Tobacco companies try to get people sta

Most of the ingredients found in cigarettes are not good for the human body and are very addicting. These are just some of the ingredients: Acetone (toxic solvent), Ammonia (added to boost absorption of nicotine), Arsenic Cadium (known human carcinogen), Carbon monoxide (highly toxic), Cocoa (one of many sweeteners added to mask the taste of tobacco), etc. These are just some of the items that the American government lets people get addicted to and killed by everyday. Why would a government allow fiberglass to be in chewing tobacco? It seems like someone might as well just start eating glass and injecting cancer into their mouth. By smoking and/or chewing tobacco most of these addicting ingredients help people sign up to receive cancer.

In June of 1998, Minnesota senator Paul Wellstone tried to help pass a law that would make tobacco illegal in America. This didn't pass through legislation and this is what he had to say,

Before a government was even produced, tobacco in this country has been legal. In small efforts to take tobacco out of the nation's economy, tobacco is taxed, but not made illegal. Tobacco is one of the leading causes of death in the nation, but the government is greedy. The government tires to help the health programs get better, but still does not make tobacco illegal. Is this the kind of government someone would want to live under? I know that this government is not popular with me. That's why I think this government is no better than a murderer when it comes to making tobacco illegal in America.

Is this the kind of government that someone would want running a country? America is a country where they want to make as much money as possible, but do not care whom they hurt or kill just to get it. They spend billions of dollars trying to keep American citizens healthy and fi
