The stars were as brilliant as ever, but I could not enjoy their priceless beauty because by the time I had fully opened my eyes, tears had come streaming down, blurring my vision in every way. I can still feel the warm tears that had fallen that night, for the feeling wasn't like anything that I had felt before. It was the sensation of pins pricking at my tear-stained cheeks and then drying up like drought-infested rivers. There was an immense pain that amplified from my knees when I hit the ground with a rueful sob. I sat there, hands cupping my face, holding back the tears. I was lonely and desperate, as I built a reflection of myself with the tears that I had shed.

As I ambled out through the back door of my house into my colorful garden of diamonds, I remember glancing at the open heavens.
