Psychology Diagnosis

Maggie is forty years old; she is a patient that I diagnose with major depression. The reason why I said she has major depression is because she has the sign of denial, she has mood disorder, and she is suicidal. Here are some treatments for major depression, she should visit the rehabilitation, she should have family therapy, and she should have cognitive behavior therapy. .
             .
Denial-is when one is in disbelief, although the event can't be true. The sign that Maggie has denial is because her father moved out and her husband died. She believes that this is a dream to her because now she has to take care of two children and also she has to pay the overwhelming bills. Maggie's father is an alcoholic and he used to beat her and her brother when they were young, then her father divorced with her mother and left the family. When Maggie's father left, she still thinks about him, although he used to beat them. Maggie's husband died because he was killed by a hit and run car accident. With these events in Maggie's mind, this will cause the depression to stay stronger in mind. .
Mood disorder-change of mood caused by depression. An example of Maggie's mood disorder is that first she feels she was going to promoted to floor manager at her job and then she felt hopeless because she didn't receive the promotion. She felt hopeless because she knew she could not achieve any career success. Another sign that she has mood disorder is because she has lack of sleep and also she lost her appetite. Another example of Maggie's disorder is that she used to beat her son when she was drunk. .
             .
Maggie is also suicidal; the sign that shows that she is suicidal is because she drinks a lot of alcohol, she thinks very negatively and she has very low self-esteem. The main reason why I said Maggie is suicidal is because she attempted suicide a couple of times, but never have the courage to fully go through with it.
