Institution of marriage

Marriage is an issue in America with many changes that could be made. One of these changes could be the allowance of gay couples to marry. With homosexuals pressing to receive the right to marry, there are many strong arguments against their struggle.
A first objection in the resistance of homosexual marriage is the definition of marriage itself. Our society defines marriage as a commitment between two parties, a man and a woman who are not children and consent to the marriage. If homosexuals win their struggle for marriage then they have changed the norms of society. When these rules that have existed for years and years are modified, the end result will be other groups of people pushing for further modifications on our marriage system. The end result of these changes can result in marriage being a very broad concept that people in society will think less of and not devote to as much as if it had a specific, powerful meaning to it. Homosexuals should respect what marriage means to the heterosexual world and should not tamper with it.
Secondly, marriage is a bond that has a child-making aura to it. Within a marriage, there is a male and a female with the power to create another human being. Although many gay activists will argue that a sterile male or a woman who has gone through menopause can marry even though they cannot create children, they do not see the big picture. If those heterosexuals were in better health or younger it would have been possible to create a child. In a homosexual marriage, the very thought of creating a child is out of the picture. A marriage should consist of a feeling between two parties that oat one point in their lives a child could have been created between them. With a homosexual marriage, this feeling can never exist, which is a very special primal feeling existing in many heterosexual marriages.
Finally, in order for homosexuals to be marrying, it has to be an act accepted by society.
