“Have Videogame Graphics and Game Play Evolved, Or Is History Repeating Itself?”

My thesis is the study of videogame graphics and game play. The purpose is too see have graphics greatly changed due to the rise of new technology, and do games in specific categories live up to their genre. This study will explore how videogames of all kinds have progressed over the hundreds of years. Choosing a topic such as videogames allows me to interact with the newest in game technology that exist in this day and age.

Through time it has been said, “those who don’t learn from their mistakes are bound to repeat them”, and the way things are looking some of the most popular videogame companies are paying for their mistakes. You would think that after two decades the presidents of these multimillion-dollar companies would learn that it’s the future. Times have changed, the technology has evolved but these people who make the games minds are still in the past. I myself have tried out some of the newest systems out on the market such as, The Gamecube created by Nintendo, The X-Box created by Microsoft, and The Playstation 2. And from my handling of the thr

Chapter 1: Understand The Traits Of Your Chosen Console

Sega was once leading the march. Bristling from two failed attempts at online gaming, the company then launched the Dreamcast system to widespread acclaim and record-breaking sales. The Dreamcast machine was built to take advantage of today's Internet infrastructure. Through a landmark deal with AT&T's WorldNet unit, Dreamcast players could upload high scores to a bulletin board, and download special game functions and promotional items onto their machines. It's the first step toward what, in a year, is expected to be full-fledged online gaming – meaning players can take on real-life competitors in 3D, real-time format.

The systems you choose that are available have different strengths and weaknesses. Use your chosen system for what it is best for, whether that being Playstation 2 for its DVD compatibility, or X-Box for its senile graphics. Usually the videogame players go for RPG’s, Action/Adventure, or strategy. Do not fight against it! If you want to do nice like Playstation 2(X-Box, Dreamcast, and Gamecube.) You give up a certain amount of control when you decide to use an older version of Playstation 2 (referring to the first Playstation game console)-there are things it does well, and things it does badly. Choose the console so that you can see what is the best for you. The three leading consoles are the X-Box, Playstation 2, and Gamecube. The problems with consoles are simply that machines always have some sort of flaw in them.

ee systems I noticed Playstation and Gamecube share the same handling, and in the category of graphics the X-Box is king of the hill.

According to Kutaragi, "Today's videogame graphics look like computer graphics. Our goal is to achieve a film-like graphics quality that won't make viewers conscious of or annoyed by the fact that they are indeed looking at computer graphics." And for that to happen, it will take a major re-thinking of how visuals are produced. One, which may very well mean an end to the polygon.
