The Sioux
The Sioux Indians were an Indian tribe that are located in the great plains. The Sioux were very strong fighters. They had great leadership and the key was they all stuck together. The Sioux had many great victories but these victories didn’t come without great losses. The Sioux nation is located mainly in the North Central part of the United States. The Sioux are from the States such as South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana. The Sioux were forced to this part of the country by the Americans during the late 1800’s. This made the Sioux Indians adapt to a different kind of territory than what they were previously used too. The tribe took this adaptation very well though. The Sioux Tribe still plays a big role in society today. In the lower tip of South Dakota there is a town that is called Sioux City. This city is very popular and has a few major companies based there. One such company is the Sioux City bottling company. This company has something that is a little different than any other bottling company. They always have a theme on the bottle. The them always has something to do with the old cow towns. This makes this bottle all most noticeable from a mile away. There is also another city in South Dakota
The seven original bands of the Great Sioux Nation were joined in an alliance called the "Oceti Sakowin," or "Seven Council Fires." This confederation of tribes spoke three dialects. The Santee spoke Dakota. The Yankton originally used Nakota, but many adopted the Dakota dialect in the mid-1800s. And the Teton spoke Lakota. The term "Sioux," short for "nadouessioux" or "little snakes," actually came from the Chippewa, a longtime foe. Over the years, it has been widely adopted. However, the people of the Great Sioux Nation prefer to be called Dakota, Lakota, or Nakota, according to their language group. A rich oral tradition relates the values, culture, and spirituality of the Great Sioux Nation. The stars, known as the Great Spirit's holy breath, the sun and the earth figure prominently in this tradition. Today, as yesterday, the people of the Great Sioux Nation seek to live in harmony with the universe. that gets its name from the Sioux. The city is called Sioux Falls. This is a very beautiful town. It is proud of its heritage and displays it proudly. Sioux Falls is the most populated city in South Dakota. With a population of 123,975 this is the most populated area in the whole entire state.
