The Giver

There were a few main characters in this book. The main character was Jonas. Jonas was the type of character that seemed very down to Earth. He really didn’t care what anyone thought about him. He didn’t really like the community he lived in, he though it was weird. He didn’t understand why they did some of the things they did in his community. His best friend was Asher. Asher was pretty much there for Jonas whenever he needed him. Jonas’s parents were also main characters. His mom seemed like a pretty good parent as far as I know. They had to stick to the community rules so all the parents of every child was the same practically. His dad lied to him a lot when he asked him questions about his job and so on, because the rule was in the community that you weren’t allowed to tell anyone about your job. The Giver was the guy who knew all the community memories and helped everyone out. He was also very down to Earth. The last main character was Gabriel. He was Jonas’s little brother that was only a few months old. He slept in Jonas’s room because Jonas could keep him quiet at night while everyone slept, by transferring memories to him.

I like having books that tell you the ending. I thought it was very interesting because it made you think of what it would be like in that type of community. I don’t think that I would like living in a community where you cannot see color and everyone has to dress the same. It sounded very strict. Other than those reasons I thought it was a great book and I would recommend it to other people.

release. So the Giver let him watch it. Jonas was heart broken when he saw it. He saw the baby being killed by his father and thrown in a room. Then his dad told him that night that Gabriel his little brother was going to be released. Jonas immediately went to the Giver and they planned for Jonas to escape with Jonas at a ceremony where nobody would notice he was gone. So the night of the ceremony he took Jonas on his dads bike and they went for another community. They ha
