There is no correct answer to what causes people to be lonely. There are different perspectives of situations that the existence of loneliness can be based upon. Many people feel that loneliness depends on your self. You decide whether you want to be happy or not based on how you conduct your self around others and in public. Others feel that in certain situations, like Father McKenzie’s, institutions such as the Church can restrict a person’s possible relationships with others. On another hand, though, a large number of people could feel that a person’s loneliness is based all on society. These people feel that they don’t have enough time to deal with the problems of the world because their own problems seem big enough as it is. Loneliness and companionship are both parts of human culture and without one the other would not exist.
