            In The Time Of The Butterflies Reflection Paper.
             What makes a revolutionary? Before examining the evidence, I would say a revolutionary is someone who is dedicated to a cause that will change something a lot, either violently, or not. How does one go from an ordinary member of society to a person committed to changing the status quo? A person has to see something they want to change, find a reason why, and then find others to help them.
             The Sisters.
             Three out of the four sisters in this book developed from normal members of society into full-blown revolutionaries. The fourth, Dede, did not. The next paragraphs will explain the transformations of each of the sisters briefly.
             Minerva.
             Minerva started out innocent enough, going to catholic school, being good. Until she met that bad apple Sinita. Sinita was really the first person to give Minerva the Idea that a.) something was wrong with their country, and b.) they (women and them) could do something or try to do something about it. Sinita's family had all but been destroyed for their "illegal- activities. Eleven years after this, in 1949, she has gotten associated to a man named Virgilio Morales, or Lio. Lio is a revolutionary. He also opens her mind to the problems of society that need to change. She gets involved in an underground movement and by august, after a seven-month incarceration, she is released. Even after this, she continues her actions.
             Patria.
             1946- Patria wants to be a servant of the church. She is very spiritual from the beginning and follows the bible. The administration at her school recommends that she becomes a nun. By 1959 she had given in to earthly desires and marries Pedrito Gonzales at age 16. By 18, there is a shelling of her house and her kids are hurt. She changes and starts to help Minerva with weapons stashing.
             Maria Teresa.
             1945- Maria is also religious and writes in a diary. She writes mostly about what happens at school. There is one instance when a young revolutionary girl gets sanctuary with them until she is caught there.
