Better or worse Throughtout the 1900s many people came to America from Europe, Asia, South America for a better life. Was life really better in America? Some people were worse off than they were in their own country . No matter the situation immigrants to the US had their life changed drastically. Immigrants came to the US in the 1900s for many different reasons. one reason was for religious freedom. The people who came to the US for religious freedom usually had their life changed in a good way because in the US any religion is allowed. Another reason is for a better job. These people were often disappointed, because the jobs were not always available and didn’t always pay better than the jobs in their Native country. The last reason that people came to the US in the 1900s was because there was a war going on in their native country. In these cases some immigrants had a good life in America, but some were treated badly if they were from a country
