Personal Experience
When families live together, they become accustomed to each others' habits. Sometimes they just don't realize when one member of the family is really having a serious problem. In my family, my parents (especially my father) have never really taken me seriously, when I deal with a health related problem. Maybe it’s because as a family we have never experienced any serious illnesses or health related problems. But it all changed. It was 2 am, April 24th of 2001, when I started to experience the most unbearable pain in my life; it was on the right side of the abdomen. The pain was so extreme I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it through the night. Taking three pain relievers didn’t have an effect on the pain at all. When those pills didn’t help, I wasn’t sure what would. I couldn’t stand still in one spot: when I did, I thought I was going to die. Like she didn’t already see what kind of condition I was in. She took all my information and told me to wait. After getting a spoonful of Tylenol I waited a good 30 minutes for the doctor to see me. I was very upset that I had to wait since I was in so much pain. It appeared to when we were in the hospital my father was a little more worried than he was before, and that made me feel better, because I know he cared, and was taking me more seriously. Finally the doctor came out from his office and told me I had the symptoms of kidney stones. He prescribed me medication and told me I was safe to go home. Boy was he wrong. On the way back, the pain started to come back. And it was worse than before. I really didn’t want to tell my father that I was having the pain. I knew if I did he would worry a lot more. He wo
