Pyramids at Giza
“The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it”- William James. Whether it be for our sense of humour, great stories, hard work or intuitive ideas we all want to be remembered by our descendants. Egyptians thousands of years before us were no different. The pharaohs of Egypt spent their entire life building a tomb that would last for eternity, so their greatness would never be forgotten. The Great pyramids at Giza were built for the Khufu, a great ruler of Egypt. Unfortunately the secret of how the pyramids were built died with the Egyptian pharaohs. Many speculations have been made on how the huge pyramids with the 2.5 million blocks weighing between 2.5t and 11t were fit together. One theory made by Erich von Daniken states that non human life forms are the only possible explanation. Clifford Wilson strongly disagrees and states that the Egyptians used thousand of men, to build the great pyramids strictly out of man power alone. The final theory by Davidovitus, states that the Egyptians were extremely advanced chemists and formed the pyramids moulding the blocks on the spot. Men (women) can accomplish great things with hard work and determination and Wilson’s theory gives us logical proof t
Wilson is able to back his theory with hard evidence unlike von Daniken who challenges the methods and Davidovits who is able to produce fake limestone. Wilson’s heave-hoe theory is supported by the study of the Egyptian civilization, drawings on temple walls and advanced calculations. His theory states the men with great determination and beliefs can accomplish great things. Khufu wanted a supreme burial chamber that would last an eternity so his ka (soul) would reach the next world. Like Williams James once said, “The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it” Khufu definitely lived up to this motto by building pyramids that even in 2000BCE we still ponder, and are bewildered with. hat this is actually what the Egyptians did to build the pyramids at Giza. Davidovits believes the Egyptians were really mad scientists and were able to cast the stones on the spot from moulds. This would explain the preciseness of each block and how they were laid so close to each other. Davidovits states that “We know they [Egyptians] had the technology to make wine, beer and vinegar, not to mention their expertise in mummification. Perhaps they learned to cast stone as well.” To determine if his theory was possible Davidovits made artificial limestone and compared it to that used in the pyramid. The results were extremely similar. Davidovits also comments that, “There are no murals of the time showing the r
