murder the new market

You know that expression “ you thought you’d seen everything”? Well be prepared to hear about something the public would rather not be aware of. In my essay I will be discussing the controversial concept of murderabilla. Is profiting off murder right or wrong? And how come nothing has been done to stop this tasteless sale of murder?

Murderabilla is the name for selling criminal artifacts, such as artwork, letters, hair and other personal belongings from famous murderers and rapists. Berkowiz, the serial killer who had a killing spree through New York, about 10 years ago, has become a figure in the sale of murderabilla. He now wishes he would of not written so many letters, but states that he was so lonely that he lived for contacting people on the outside. All of his writings are now selling over the Internet for over 200 dollars each. (ABCNews)

What was once an underground market is starting to surface slowly. . The wide spread Internet market is where these murder auctions take place. The sale held at least once a day has made many of these criminals rich and into celebrities. These criminals will go as far as shaving their head bald or drying their spit on a chewed pencil, there eve

According to the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance, lawmakers in other states are looking into adopting laws similar to Texas and California. But their officials acknowledge that they also cannot stop companies from making serial killer figures and trampling on their first amendment rights.

The critics of this industry find their work repulsive and immoral, but not illegal. Victims’ families are fighting for legislator to make sure no one intends to prophet from such cases as the columbine shooting or Sept. 11 attacks. “ I don’t think we can do anything legislatively to take away the industries profits.” Says Jennifer COVAS public policy annalist. Many people In the market justify their actions by explaining that the money isn’t going directly to the killers pocket, its going to their own pockets, and you cant legislate bad taste.

The fight to stop this sale is still lingering. Soon we will have laws in every state banning the sale of murderabilla, and other products related to this concept. But for now it’s up to you to decide for yourself whether this sale of murder is right or wrong?

In most states selling murderabilla is legal, Although California and Texas have adopted laws similar to the legislation that prevents criminals and third parties from profiting from the articles once owned or made by the criminals.
