Neitzsche states, “Nothing is more your own than dreams; nothing is more your own work.” Freud believed that dreams provide the clearest example of unconscious process at work. The content of dreams is dependent on the emotions and activities that have occurred and been aroused during the previous day. These emotions are associated with the primary sex and aggression drives as well as repressed memories. Past life regression is unmediated revelation through hypnosis usually assisted by a regression therapist. It is believed that through past life regressions a person is able to view and relate his past life or lives. Just as it is believed that a dream may come from the collective unconscious, it can be argued, that a past-life regression or fantasy, come from the collective unconscious as well. Through-out this paper I will argue that dreams are simply figments of the imagination; collective images of the unconscious. Though they may serve as a source for healing and motivation through interpretation, they are in no way psychic in nature. I will also argue that past life regressions are simply dreams.
