Different cultures acknowledge and honor people who in their sight are worthy of that honor. In America, different cultures are combined together to form the diverse culture in which we now live. Due to the rapid technological advances in the US, certain aspects of our culture have become more important than others. Two such aspects are television and sports. The average American would tell you that nothing beats watching the super bowl or NBA finals on T.V. with a couple of buddies. However, many times we forget that these forms of entertainment are mostly made up of overly paid actors and athletes. One of the most prestigious careers today is becoming a doctor. A student starting in college continues his education for almost 8 years until graduates from medical school. Once he finishes medical school, he would continue for two more years of residency to gain enough experience to be able to work in a hospital. After years of diligent study and sacrificing of time, doctors are compensated with a low starting salary. However, many entertainers today don’t have an education past High school.
