I Dream A World
Racism affects millions of people across the world and spreads each day. It acts much like a virus, jumping from one victim to another. Even in today’s society, racism can be seen on a global scale, one such example is the genocide, which occurred in Kosovo a few years ago. Many years ago, a man saw a possible future where racism had been destroyed, where everyone had the ability to truly be free. Langston Hughes was this man. Decades ago Langston wrote, “ I Dream a World”. This poem ignited the very bonds of racism, allowing people to see a possible future, one of true freedom. Racism and prejudice across the world causes hate, pain, and even death. Also, these emotions and actions are the true root of evil across the world, something we as humans could do without. Although we as Canadians live in a society of acceptance, we still see racism and prejudice, and even take part in it. Racism and prejudice are part of our world; it is up to us to eliminate it.
