Pride and Prejudice is set in England during the Victorian era. The Bennett family is composed of five daughters who are trying to find men to marry. If none of the daughters are married there is a chance that they could lose their house and property. Three of the five daughters eventually marry. In Pride and Prejudice, Lady Deberg and Mrs. Bennett’s personalities and actions are similar. Both Lady Deberg and Mrs. Bennett want their daughters to marry into wealth; both offer unwanted advice and both like to control conversations.

Lady Deberg is wealthy so she feels that she can offer advice to whomever she wants. Mrs. Bennett tells Elizabeth that she should marry Mr. Collins because the opportunity of marriage may be offered to her again. Elizabeth does not want to marry Mr. Collins, so the advice that was given to her is useless. Nobody ever takes Lady Deberg’s or Mrs. Bennett’s advice seriously.
