The Nature Of Evil

To me the word “evil” has no definition. There is no black and white when it comes to right and wrong, good and bad. The fact that you cannot separate pure evil from other elements causes the word’s definition to be vague and imprecise. Evil to me is when a person has without a doubt a clear understanding of what is morally and legally right, yet chooses to partake in actions that contradict their understanding. I think an evil person chooses to do evil things. This does not necessarily mean they have no conscience, just not one strong enough to convince them to do the right thing.

It’s extremely hard to filter out insanity when observing evil. In order to do evil acts I think you must be in some small way, insane. The dictionary reads, “Insanity is a persistent mental disorder or derangement.” Little information is given on the specifics of insanity. When a person longs to commit violent and evil crimes, murdering, are they not insane? I disagree with our legal system allowing some criminals reduced sentencing and cleaner facilities because they’re declared criminally insane. Aren’t all criminals in some way, “not right in the head?” They chose to do the wrong thing. Then we arrive at the question, “Wha

There are many lives a single person leads. One life I lead separate from most others, is the life of a student. I believe the life of a student can sometimes be an evil one. Tactics of school skipping. Excuses, assignments turned in late. Bomb threats and smoking on school property. Taking advantage of substitutes, hall passes, and bathroom breaks. I could write a short novel explaining the life of a student. My high school career alone has taught me the tricks of the trade, more malicious and mischievous ways of “getting away with things” than one can imagine. Being a high school student is like being a minion, a demon of sorts! Everyday I am faced with decisions that could cost me my diploma. Only the most studious and self-discovered teens can escape the wrath of peer pressure and procrastination. Plagiarism, the tool of the devil. As far as I am concerned (and many of my peers would agree) renting the movie is equivalent to reading the book. Yes, I am ashamed to admit it. A realization that strums a twine of oddity within my conscious brain is how I came to graduate with honors? I may never know.

Motion pictures and even cartoons portray characters as evil; these characters to many children are the “bad guys.” Adults however know them as villains. Whether it’s the monster under the bed, the high school principal, or the criminal mastermind one thing’s for sure, the idea of what or whom is or isn’t evil is being shown to viewers everywhere! Children are subjected to politically correct ideas of who’s right and wrong. Some things are made acceptable in “TV Land” that aren’t in reality. I recently watched the Stephen King thriller Carrie on cable. After watching approximately five minutes of the film I had witnessed murder, driving under the influence, sexual activity, criminal mischief, arson, physical and verbal abuse, not to ment
