The Outcomes of Cuban Revoluti

The outcome of the Cuban Revolution has been an area of great debate among scholars for many years. Many believe that the Cuban Revolution was not a successful revolution for it has not been able to accomplish many of its goals. Furthermore, there is also the belief that in the 40 plus years since the Revolutionary party took control of the state it has not been able to fully institutionalize and consolidates the state. These are the arguments that scholars have used to claim that the Cuban revolution has not been successful. In this essay I will argue that while the Cuban revolution has not yet succeeded in fully implementing all of its goals it is too early to fully condemn the revolution. I will argue that the Cuban revolution has not had the time or the resources to fully implement their revolutionary goals. Second, I will argue that the Cuban revolution has been very successful in many areas of the revolution despite the pressures that Cuban Revolution has been under. For me to argue these two points it will require me to first explain the reasons of the revolution. Secondly, I will show the pressures that the Cuban government has been under which will show why the revolution is not been a

Now that we have defined the goals of Cuba’s Revolution lets examine the success of these goals. The first would be land reform; there are few that can argue that the Castro administration has not accomplished this goal. The country before Castro was in almost total control of foreign companies. After the revolution all land belongs to the state and therefore the people. Next comes income and wealth distribution, before the revolution the few elites and foreign business owners had all the money. There are few that can argue that change has not happened in this area. Economic independence and agricultural diversity have not been fully implemented but a lot of change has happened in these areas of reform. Cuba is a small island in the Caribbean which does not have the land or climate to ever have agricultural diversity. This fact makes it very difficult to gain economic independence. Therefore, economic independence and agricultural diversity are two goals that I believe Cuba will never be able to achieve. In the same token credit must be give to Cuba for there accomplishments in the field of economic independence. With the sanctions placed by the United States and many other countries it is very impressive what Cuba has been able to accomplish. This leads us to examine a social revolution in general term. This leads us to the consolidation and institutionalization of the revolution. Castro has been able to institutionalize this revolution very successfully. His administration has taken control and incorporated the revolution to every aspect of Cuban life from the educational system to the sugar canes. The revolutionary ideals and system have been incorporated to every aspect of life in Cuba. One of the largest problems in Cuba’s revolution comes from the lack consolidation in Cuba. Castro spends too much time and energy
