Orlando Bloom’s first job was as a clay trapper "I set the clay discs the gentlemen would try to shoot. It was fun to be out in the fresh air."

At age 15 Orlando moved to London to pursue his acting career at National Youth Theatre. He then got a part on a TV series Casualty as Bit Part “That was my first-ever job, playing a self-mutilator - a guy who cuts himself for attention. It gave me a bit of experience. Orlando had a good childhood; family, friends, upbringing the whole works. "I grew up in a big house with lots of land around it, so we used to play in the garden." Orlando also had an older sister, named Samantha, who he fought with when he was little. But now they’re starting to get along. "We're just starting to get along a lot better now that we're older. She did get me into clothes at a young age, though. She used to dress me and she'd get stuff from thrift shops. I had loafers and cowboy boots and cowboy shirts and, like, preppie-like check shirts." Sheila (Orlando’s mother) was a language teacher so she entered Orlando into bible reading and poetry reciting competitions. Orlando also had a father, Harry, but he died when Orlando was only 4. Harry, a legendary figure in antiapartheid circles in South Africa, who wrote a famous tome called Episode In The Transvaal, was jailed for his beliefs, and worked alongside Nelson Mandela. “Harry was a great man who died when I was four, and it was as if he'd done his job and then left the world.” Orlando wanted to become an actor at a young age. When he realized superman wasn’t real he thought that maybe he can do that too, another time was when he was 10 and his girlfriend was fonder of a character on TV than she was of him.
