China has always been known for its distinctive continuity over time. From the classical age onward, though some disturbances in the traditional norm occurred, the country had managed to retain much of its early glory. In the 20th century however, China’s rigid sense of institution would have to change to keep up with the rest of the modernizing world. After the Qing dynasty, the last in China, was abdicated in 1912, power was mostly left to regional warlords and military commanders. The first ruler of the new China was, the powerful general, Yuan Shikai
