Computers are very beneficial in managerial account in many areas from storing and computing numbers to displaying a years worth of financial data and statistics. “In recent years Information Technology (IT) has played a critical role in the services provided by the public accounting industry.

Managerial accounting was originally a slow-paced conservative industry but has changed very much in recent times due to its technological environment. Two major changes include: New improved software and knowledge-sharing applications. Investments in information systems in accounting can bring productivity gain to a whole new level of efficiency. That is why some information systems improve debtor control by determining a “proper credit checking before taking on a new customer, keeping track of their amounts due and from whom, the due dates for payment and, if overdue, how much”(Blackstaff 85)? This keep those accounts receivable down.

“Most managers still have only a blurred or imprecise notion of how a computer works or of what it is capable of accomplishing. This is not only unfortunate for it make our jobs more difficult, but it is also unnecessary”(Macintosh 257). A smart manager should want to get an edge on the technology that a computer can offer them. A computer can work so rapidly on very complex problems which could end up save the company money and time, making everything more efficient, therefore getting an edge on the competition.

Overall Computer information system are widely used through-out Managerial Accounting everyday. They lay it all out so you can see where you stand in all fields of your work. Accounting is one of the most important parts of every business and it is very important to make sure all aspects are carried out to perfection
