Both “Nature Morte- La Cafatiere”(1944) and “Violin et Compotier” (1910) are excellent examples of Cubism in their period. Cubism was a style in which sometimes no attempt at three-dimensionalism is made. Often just the geometric form is represented on a flat canvas. Here the artist can portray different points, simultaneously. This was a revolutionary style utilized by both Picasso and Braque and meant having a more intellectual than emotional focus. This type of art had to do more with the conceptual and perceptual shift in the perception mind. “Violin et Compotier” (1910) is an example of the height in analytic cubism where three-dimensional objects are painted on a flat canvas without the use of traditional perspective.

Picasso as well as Braque’s work represents the subject from different points of views effectively. At the time of “Nature Morte- La Cafatiere” (1944), artists often arranged, painted, rearranged, the painted again important objects. This gave the object symbolic power. When Picasso aimed to create a still life of opposing elements (masculine vs. feminine) he used hard triangles and soft curves.
