Greed

Today I"m going to talk to you for 5-7 minutes. If I talked for 10 minutes would you consider that greed? How much is enough? Greed is a selfish desire for more than one needs or deserves. It has made honest men murderers and countries with rich and valuable resources into the poorest countries in the world. It's a trait that cuts across most human endeavours and goes as far back as the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve took the forbidden fruit in order to gain something to which they believed they were entitled. Greed is why millions of children were put to work for 14 hours a day in factories during the Industrial Revolution, working in horrible circumstances for next to nothing. Unfortunately, human beings are born with this trait in them, but as we grow up and become intelligent human beings, we have to find ways to subdue this part of our character. .

It was his greed of power and his hatred of Jews that brought about the deaths of over six million people in Nazi Concentration Camps and the Second World War. For a few years Adolph Hitler brought prosperity and stability to Germany. He was a man of culture, enjoyed his paintings and was the visionary behind Germany's great motorways. At the end of the war, when all hope had deserted him, this same man ordered that the very country he had tried to make so great should be destroyed. Can we ever understand such a man?.
