The night-blooming flowers and the saguaro plant are classified in the genus Cereus. The Christmas cactus is classified as Schlumbergera bridgesii.I¡¦ve chose this organism because I would like to know more information about this specific plant as I¡¦m very interested in how cactus with it¡¦s own unique characteristics, be able to withstand the heat and the cold in the desert. The family contains about 1650 species, most of which are adapted to arid climates.
