Albert Einstein is the greatest scientist the world has ever known. Mankind’s view of the universe was changed forever when he came up with his formula for the Theory of Relativity, E=mc . Later in life, he also contributed greatly to President Roosevelt’s decision to fund what became the Manhatten Project. Einstein was born in 1879 to a middle-class German family of Jewish ancestry. As a boy, he constantly wondered what made things work. Once when he was sick, his father gave him a compass. Albert was puzzled by the fact that the needle of the compass would always point to the north. This started him on the path of questing for scientific knowledge. He wanted to know about the way things worked in the world. It was this desire that began him on the road to discovering relativity. At the age of fifteen, Albert quit high school.
