Junger, the director of the Shakespearean spin off- 10 Things I hate About You has used the earlier text (Taming Of The Shrew) and changed it to say something new by creating a movie which appeals to the masses of today, a teeny romance. Junger has used the timeless Shakespearean classic to put forward new Idea’s on how society has changed since the Elizabethan period by recreating it into hilarious modern film. Some of the ways Junger has shown how society has changed is by emphasizing the more powerful role of women today, showing how the role of teenagers has changed and also how the role of parents has changed since the Elizabethan period. One of the major changes in society, which Gil Junger has shown in his film 10 Things I hate About You is how women in today’s society has changed for the better since its Elizabethan counterpart Taming Of The Shrew was written. One way that women have changed is that they now have so many more rights and are more independent; they receive equal opportunities to men in the work force and in the education system. They have the right to make their own choices instead of having their choices made for them and then forced on them by their fathers or husbands.
