“The world is going to end when Jan. 1st 2000 hits.” “Be prepared for the end.” “Everyone is going to loose all there money” “Computers will crash causing general chaos.” These are some idea that some people feel surround the acts of the year 2000. It can be said that they are just fear mongers expressing their fear and trying to spread it. These people are a little correct on the situation. Overall they have a right to believe what they want. This paper will explain this from an opinion that they are wrong and have taken over the Y2k situation. It will present how they derive their ideas, why they have these ideas and finally how they have taken over the situation.

Then they manipulate the idea to fit in with modern society. This means whatever they have thought up, they mold it to fit society, so that they can preach it. They develop the ideas to feel good about themselves and have a sense of belonging in society. They make up the beliefs and start believing them themselves.
