History Of CPU’s: The history of the CPU’s started in 1971, when the first computer came out. Intel came out with the first Type of CPU called Intel 4044. It was not very powerful -- all it could do was add and subtract, and it could only do that 4 bits at a time. The first microprocessor or CPU that was for a home PC was the Intel 8080. It was a Chip that could process 8-bits at a time, it was introduced in 1974. The new Pentium IV is 5.000 times faster then the first CPU built.
