Illegal Immigration

The United States of America is known to be the land of the free. Although many people here may take their rights and this land for granted, others living in a more poverty-stricken see America as a land to fulfill their many hopes and dreams. Many people living in third-world countries migrate and come into the U.S. illegally in order to support themselves and their families. They want to come to this country in search of opportunities that their own counties lack. This may seem a bit reasonable, but with so many illegal immigrants coming into the United States every year, it is beginning to become a pretty serious problem. The main problems dealing with illegal immigration is that it will overpopulate the U.S. and that it will cause many problems and difficulties dealing with our society and economy. Our economy was a very prosperous one until the attack that took place on September 11, 2001. As of now, we are still trying to recover economically since the surprise attack.

Every year, the Border control makes more than one million apprehensions of people who were caught trying to sneak their way illegally across the U.S. borders. They do it because they know they will have a way better life in the U.S. that in their home coun

Almost all of the immigrants coming into the U.S. are poor, uneducated people. Most are also very low-skilled and un-experienced. Because of that, they are forced to find jobs that pay very little, but more money than what that get in their home country. They usually have jobs that not many Americans living here really would want to have. For example: “Low paying, hard-working farm jobs.” (1) Some Americans would not hire others Americans because they believe that they can find an illegal immigrant to do the same job, but for very smaller wages. They know that doing so will save the employer a sum of money.

With more and more illegal immigrants in our country each day, the many jobs and opportunities here in America will soon be filled up and taken. Because there are so many workers, but fewer jobs for immigrants available, the immigrants will have to find other alternatives in order to earn money. If an immigrant does not find a job soon enough in order to provide for his family, he or she will be forced to find others ways to get the money he or she desires. The immigrant knows that he has to get money somehow and returning to his home country is not an option. Therefore, the immigrant will probably rob and steal. Doing so will lead to deportation if caught, jail time, or can even lead to their death.

The illegal immigrants cause our economy to be depleted of useful and qualified individuals. Illegal immigrants take jobs and opportunities away from some qualified Americans. With the jobs given to the immigrants, the same job could have been offered and given to a qualified homeless person. Doing so, the homeless population wouldn’t be as large as it is today, and there would be more Americans living in a more better situation than what they are at currently.

Another solution to this big problem is to pass laws really limiting and sort of illegal immigration and strictly enforce them. The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Respo
