Consumerism, a whole new world is unfolded fiercely into our disregarded faces when it enters into lives. It comes and enters our society without even knocking and yet no signs of any warning and manipulates our minds into what they want us to purchase. Everything aren’t as they seem as giant corporations pay large sums of money to put their product or service into out heads, yet we still are convinced that it is a wonderful thing that they have created for us, despite the social issues and our obsession with it. Because of our high needs and wants, it makes us all a prime target for consumerism, we are made to fink by many products that we buy their products out of a need whether a want. Many of our wants go unsatisfied whether our needs we must always be put into consideration and must always be fulfilled. Self Actualisation is the highest need humans may ask for in their lives. Without it we would surely perish, whether we have high esteem or low esteem it helps determine what the rest of society thinks of us. That is why consumerism is so easy to target us, particularly the rich who buy certain named brands to improve their self esteem about themselves and also, the sort of person they are trying to be by communicating thro
Her wardrobe isn’t very appealing as a character as she is first seen entering a shop with Edward, she wore very revealing clothes as you can get a lot of ideas of what sort of person she already is. Before she was consumed she had the opportunity to buy what ever she wanted, but before that in the earlier scenes we heard, that she didn’t buy no more than one dress the first time she went shopping. Consumerism only targets the people who look like they can be easily targeted and have no time others. The dress she bought from the shop was all white, as the sense of innocent and purity in the character to help show the audience what sort of person she has transformed to. The way she walks, acts and talks to certain people has changed because of the way she looks now, consumerism targets consumers for this purpose so that they fall victim to future products. In English we saw a film by the title of Pretty woman. Pretty Woman is a perfect example of consumerism it depicts the materialism and consumerism in our modern society. It shows a young lady named Vivian struggling to make a living, selling her body for money to other for their own personal enjoyment. As she was sheltered and given a chance to be a real woman by Edward, Vivian falls to consumerism as Edward offers to take her shopping giving her his credit card.
