We as the human race have been blessed with the inarguably highest intelligence on this earth. However with this intelligence also comes diversity. Humans have proved to be infinitely diverse. Not only in our skin coulours and physical attributes but also mentally, every person thinks and sees things a little differently. Depending on our thoughts, beliefs, and actions we as humans will shape ourselves and the world we live in accordingly. For countless years millions of people have turned to Krishna’s counsel in the Bhagavad-Gita for guidance. Krishna’s great wisdom has been the basis of many people’s thoughts and beliefs, and in times of action to act in a manner that Krishna would see as hounorable. Arjuna, a great warrior becomes lost and mentally disoriented just before a great battle is to take place. He believes he sees omens of chaos if the battle takes place and renounces what he thinks to be useless and horrible action. He sees no purpose or justification in slaying his friends, tutors, and mentors. However Krishna sees and knows things to be very different. Krishna teaches Arjuna that because he is a warrior, riding into battle is his sacred duty; an action to be embraced and even enjoyed
Krishna teaches Arjuna not only that his action in battle is essential, but also the importance of his intent. If one performs action with attachment and intent on the fruits of action then one is self-deluded and greedy. When one controls the senses and engages in discipline of action, then one is true and hounorable. It is detachment that sets the two apart. All action should be performed as sacrifice, and thus free from attachment. Krishna says that while renouncement of action, and discipline in action are both good, of the two, discipline in action far surpasses renouncement. Krishna teaches that it is possible to escape the cycles of suffering, of birth, and of rebirth. Through enduring discipline and singular devotion one enters the highest way, a goal from which one does not return. One enters into what is known as eternal unmanifest nature. Krishna explains that one is immortal and known as the supreme infinite spirit, neither being nor nonbeing. Finally, it is one of Krishna’s only actions that is possibly most persuasive. Krishna shows his true form to Arjuna in its entire terrible splendor. Although one can only read it, Arjuna trembles and begs to see Krishna return to his calm form as his charioteer.
