How Achilleus and Hektor describe as a tragic figure

To Achilleus, he was the greatest warrior in the Achaian army and even the whole war. Like other peoples in the society at that time, the main reason for him to fight is to win time, which is the honor of men. He did not allow other people to take away his honor. Therefore he quitted the Achaian army during the war since he was insulted by Agamemnon, who is the king of Mycenae. Achilleus was angry because Agamemnon took away his prize of the war, Briseis. I think Achilleus is a tragic figure because all he wants to do was just to protect his honor and that made him for some misjudgments. Even though he refused to help his comrades out was because he think that it was not his fault but Agamemnon¡¦s. He couldn¡¦t accept to fight in a battle with the one who had disgraced him in the public. I realize that there must be s a big struggle in his mind to decide to help his comrades or not. Until he lost Patroklos, he became very angry and act immediately to revenge. He felt guilty for Patroklos¡¦s death because he thought it was his fault that if he return to the battle earlier, he might not die. But it was too late.

At this point I can¡¦t see any manner that a warrior should have since it is his responsibility to lead his army to fight. Although he might be struggled in his mind about to leave or stay and pay a lot of concern about his comrades but he couldn¡¦t show it due to his pride. He chooses to leave the battle. I think that this is a very selfish decision. He just care about himself but not his fellows, soldier, and country. Also it is the setup of the later scene why he returned to the battle to revenge for his closest friend, Patroklos.

Achilleus and Hektor are a good example of tragic figure. They are totally two different kind of man. Hektor is more mature and will care about other people. He has great social responsibility. Achilleus is a more self-center person, the entire thing he do is for honor. He didn¡¦t mean to hurt any people but in fact many people were hurt by him. Therefore, in my opinion, the more tragic figure is Hektor. As I said before
