As rain falls over roads, parking lots, construction sites, and industrial or commercial sites, it becomes contaminated with oil and grease, heavy metals, pesticides, litter, fecal matter, and pollutants from vehicle exhaust. This polluted runoff flows into storm drains along roadsides and into our oceans. Along with polluted rain comes trash. Countless Americans liter down storm drains daily which leads to more contaminated waters and more deaths of sea life animals.
