With the development of modern technology, and with the advent of the information and telecommunication age, we can aquire knowledge through different ways, such as using video, computers, and the Internet, which leads us to enter a broader sea of knowledge. Rather than distract from real learning, these technologies enable us to study more widely and effectively.
First, such innovation helps students learn more than ever before. As for the traditional learning method, the ways for students to seek knowledge were limited. Generally, there were two means, of which was from the instructors and the other the textbook. Undoubtedly, with the grown knowledge of students, they will find that what they have got from instructors and textbools has not satisfied their needs any more. With the help of the Internet, which equals the combination of thousands of libraries, students will find what they want and there is no boundaries for their study. For instance, they can easily find the information about the author of Utopia by only typing in his name. And also they can come back to the Stone Age without any bothering to look up to a heavy history book. To this extent, modern technologies not only widen our horizon, but also promote our effecience of learning.
Second, video, computer, and the Internet turn our studying from a dull work into an interesting one. My own experience can surve as a typical example to illustrate my point. Several years ago, I regarded the geographic course as the dullest of all, because in the class what we did was to take down what teacher said and to remember the names of the places without knowing what they really are. The geographic course was in fact a reciting class. However, with the introduction of the CAI, the geographic class turns out to be my favorite one. In the class, we have the chance to see the places on the computer screen, and even we can hear the talks of the local people.
