            I was reading my mom's Parent magazine the other day while I was eating breakfast, and one of the articles I read was labeled "Athletes make too much money." The author argued that athletes are pampered, and whiny and that they get away with more than the average person because they are celebrities. He said that teachers and government workers work just as hard as pro athletes but they barely get paid 1% of what pro athletes make. .
             I totally disagree with this thinking. While athletes may get away with more than the average person, their personal lives are laid out for the public to see. If an athlete gets a speeding ticket, that news will be in the newspaper the next day. Athletes are held more accountable than almost anyone else in our nation's society today. They are required to stay in excellent physical condition, participate in charity, and talk to the media. Anyone who thinks an Nba player gets payed to show up for 48 minutes, which is the length of a game, is wrong. Athletes work year-round to stay in shape, travel extensively for half of a year, are deprived from seeing their families much during this time, and are required to memorize numerous plays. The professional sports business as a whole is a multi-billion dollar business. If the athletes weren't making the money, the owners of the teams would. I don't know about you but I would rather split 80 million between a team of hard-working athletes than give that money to a billionaire who.
