· Cubism: Cubism can be defined as either analytical or synthetic. In analytical cubist painting, the object was "taken apart" and reshaped with the use of flat intersecting planes. A synthetic cubist work had bits of real objects worked into the picture. Items like newspaper clippings, rope and other "found objects" were attached to the canvas.

This painting utilized pure color and light to express ones inner perception. It seemed to me that the painting was made to engage the viewers’ unconscious responses. I was instructed to concentrate on the painting, and then close my eyes, and then describe what I saw. At first it was a paint that was 75 % orange, and 25 % blue. But after I closed my eyes, I envisioned the sunset on a summer evening. I envisioned a glowing orange sky, with the ground dark as night came closer. I actually touched this painting ( even though I was supposed to =) ). This painting had heavy strokes. The orange paint used had a velvet touch to it. The orange field of the painting seems to explode onto the view space of the artwork. The two colors used seem to be optical compliments of each other.
