Gallipoli
In the film Gallipoli, there were a series of excellent production features, particularly the film techniques such as angle shots and freeze frame shots used, and the type of music that was played during each separate scene. Each technique used showed Archy's stages during, after and before the war, this was very effective, as it portrays how quickly his attitude changes through the film. One of the most effect film techniques used was montage, during the scene where Frank had to run as fast as he could to deliver the message to the english colonel, it was cut in short segments as between them, it showed how the light horse brigade soldiers were getting ready to charge over the turkish trench. this shows the passing of time, as it went too quickly for Frank, but slowly for the soldiers. A series of shots showed the essence
The music used in this film effectively intensified each separate scene, creating a different type of mood. THe film techniques plus the type of music used made the film more detailed, atmospheric and created a war mood to effectively make viewers feel the very essences of WWI in Gallipoli. The final shot at the end of the movie was called a 'Freeze frame shot.' this was the most important film technique used as it was the most memorable shot that stayed in the viewer's memory, we see Archy in his death, frozen, with no sound, the silence and the shot slowly fading away gives us the atmosphere of death and the final end to the soldiers' lives in the war.
