In the stories “The Rocking Horse Winner” and “A Worn Path”, the main characters lead

out of journey to fulfill some needs of their present life. “A Worn Path” refers to an old

woman named Phoenix. Phoenix set her journey to heal the sickness of her grandson. In

the story, she went to fetch medicine from the town’s doctor office to heal her grandson

throat. She loves her grandson so much; even she can face any hardship to keep him

alive. She had to make a journey so many times, for her grandson that the path, which she

follows, is worn down for her. She faced many obstacles during her journey. The main
